A question of trust?

"Dear Diary
Its an interesting and challenging time as I change the focus of my work and create a new business. Letting go of the old to create something new can sometimes seem scary and its easy to doubt that I will make it through this with my sanity intact. But I have been here before! Last year I had practically no paid work. For some inexplicable reason it all just stopped and I watched in horror as the finances drained away. I had irons in the fire left, right and centre but nothing happened. Just as I was about to give up, things suddenly turned around...with it came more confidence and more self-belief..I guess its all a question of trust!"

So what happens when results aren't coming as quick as you would like? For a long time, I would look for solutions that were external to myself. Seeking advice and praying to the universe for help. Not to say that these things don't help in some way but there is an alternative.

Instead of asking "the universe" or some other external source to help, its all about communicating with our higher selves or higher consciousness, that part of our unconscious/subconscious that has our highest and best interests at heart. You see because the universe is external to us, it suggests a degree of dependency, that we are somehow at the mercy of an external force dictating our circumstances. Imagine instead focusing on building a deeper connection with our higher selves. Now we are looking at developing the rapport between different aspects of ourselves so that the flow of information happens more effectively and spontaneously.

Like the analogy of a ship. our conscious minds are the captains, setting a course of action or direction in place and then letting the crew of our ship (our unconscious minds) do the work of getting us there. A good captain gives the commands but doesn't run around the ship checking up on everyone, sweeping the deck, changing the sails etc. So we set a direction and then trust the crew to deliver for us. The great thing about this approach is that it conserves a lot of energy and when we get the results, we can relish in the personal achievement.

The key thing here is once you have set the direction... TRUST AND LET GO. As Deepak Chopra points out, it is all then about non-attachment. Trusting it will happen, and if it doesn't, its because our higher selves have something of greater significance for us which is not yet apparent from where we stand. You wouldn't plant a seed and then dig it up again to check if it was growing. We trust the process of growth and wait for the results with expectation.

Our unconscious always has the answer. How much can you trust and let go as you realise it is all happening perfectly outside of your conscious awareness?

"Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation) there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favour all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way"
